budget alert

The State of California is continuting to experience a severe fiscal crisis, and legislators continue negotiations with the Governor for a budget that will resolve a 26 Billion dollar deficit. All state-funded programs have been slated to aborb millions of dollars in reductions to programs. The Department of Developmental Services was required to identify $334 million in reductions for the period from February 2009 through June 2010.

These changes to the Lanterman Act are described in Trailer Bil ABx45. Although these changes will not become final until the budget is signed, we understand that this is not an area of disagreement in budget negotiations, and do anticipate at this time that these reductions will go forward. We are currently working on plans, to be prepared to implement them when required. We will post information here as quickly as possible as soon as we have more information.

The State Controller has begun issuing IOUs as payments to state service providers, and HRC has received such a payment. If HRC determines that we will experience a delay in payment to service providers, we will inform you asap via this webpage and through email.
